A while ago, I came across the phrase "dread dim lanterns of Hekate." This brought all sorts of images to mind, and recently I decided I wanted to tackle painting this image. I figured the lanterns as having white at the bottom of the lantern flames and then releasing a black light. That's what I've tried to show here. Hekate is one of my favorite spirit beings, and I have often painted her.
